Kunwer Sachdev is the founder of IndianRating.in. Often called the “Inverter Man of India” for his years building organised power-backup products, he is retired from active industry operations, exited Su-Kam in 2019, and is not associated with Su-vastika or any other solar inverter company today. His focus now is public-interest platforms that help ordinary people get a fair hearing.

Early years

Born in Delhi to a railway-employee family in Punjabi Bagh, he studied in a government school, graduated in Statistics from Hindu College, and later earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Delhi. As a teenager he sold pens door-to-door with his elder brother — an early lesson in retail, persuasion, and showing up for customers in person.

After a short stint in cable communications sales, he started his own cable-television installation and equipment business in the late 1980s under the Su-Kam name — amplifiers, modulators, and satellite gear — learning manufacturing, distribution, and after-sales the hard way.

Building Su-Kam

Chronic power cuts in 1990s India pushed him from cable hardware into backup power. On 14 October 1998 he formally incorporated Su-Kam Power Systems with modest capital and set out to organise a largely unorganised inverter market. Over the following decades Su-Kam grew into one of India's best-known inverter and home UPS brands — domestic manufacturing, a large dealer network, solar-hybrid products, and exports across dozens of countries.

Public reporting and his own archive credit milestones such as early DSP sine-wave inverters, plastic-body designs that became category norms, and residential solar / hybrid UPS work that helped define the “Home UPS” category for Indian households. Peak years saw a national brand footprint measured in thousands of employees and dealers, with technology filings across power backup and energy storage.

Recognition during that period included Entrepreneur of the Year at the Entrepreneur India Awards (2011), ELCINA-EFY recognition for R&D, and listing among Hurun's Most Respected Entrepreneurs (2017), among other industry honours. Fuller archival detail is on kunwersachdev.com and Wikipedia.

Exit and independence

In the late 2010s Su-Kam entered insolvency proceedings under India's Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Kunwer Sachdev exited Su-Kam in 2019 when the company moved to new ownership through the NCLT process. He has held no ownership, directorship, or management role with Su-Kam since then. He is also not associated with Su-vastika or any other solar inverter company today — no ownership, directorship, employment, or operational role. Historical use of the Su-Kam name on this page refers only to his past tenure as founder and managing director.

Public platforms after retirement

After stepping back from industry operations, his interest shifted to platforms that help people who are otherwise ignored by systems.

  • GiftedKids.in — a gifted-education platform for Indian parents and children, co-founded with Khushboo Sachdev and Dr Inderbir Kaur Sandhu (Cambridge-trained specialist in gifted education), focused on identification, advocacy, and culturally rooted support rather than Western-only IQ framing.
  • DoctorRating.in — a public rating initiative in healthcare accountability, part of the same instinct: make service quality and responsiveness visible so ordinary people are not left without a voice.
  • IndianRating.in — consumer grievances against brands: proof-backed intake, human-reviewed statutory notice drafts, and public brand scores so when a company does a common person wrong, there is a structured path toward accountability and fair compensation — not another silent chat thread.

Why IndianRating.in

Most consumers lose time and money in support queues that never resolve. The founder's post-retirement mission is practical help for the common man: document the wrong, structure a notice draft under human review, and make brand responsiveness visible through public ratings. The goal is not to replace courts or regulators — it is to give people a credible paper trail and public pressure when companies ignore them.

Independence on this site

IndianRating.in operates as an intermediary. The founder does not decide individual ticket outcomes, publish status, or calculate public scores by personal preference. Moderated, proof-backed tickets and platform rules drive what appears on brand pages. Consumers remain responsible for the accuracy of their claims. This site does not provide legal advice.

Notice drafts may be prepared with AI assistance; human review is required before any dispatch path is enabled. Email to brands is not automatic in the current release.
